The Tomb Raider reboot which released today has not been without controversy. Lara Croft is no longer the aristocratic, badass she was in the late 90s and early 2000s. She is now a fragile, innocent young student put in a terrible situation. Although the gameplay is likely to be the same as console, you might be wondering what graphics options, bugs and porting issues might exist. Fear not, KBMOD community member Ajay is here for you with a full on, well done video review of the game.

Lawyer: Accusations against U.S. senator are false

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) ? A Dominican woman who once said in a video that she had sex with a New Jersey senator for money is now acknowledging that the allegation was false, according to a sworn statement released by a lawyer enmeshed in the accusations.

The attorney, Vinicio Castillo Seman, told reporters at a Monday press conference that the 23-year-old woman, identified as Nexis de los Santos, now claims in a sworn statement that she not only "never went to bed with" U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez but she never actually met him.

Castillo has been accused of hosting outings on his yacht in which the U.S. senator used the services of prostitutes. He has strongly denied the allegations and said he would seek a criminal investigation into the source of the reports.

On Monday, Castillo distributed copies of the woman's sworn statement to reporters during a press conference in his Santo Domingo office. The woman did not attend.

In the sworn statement, the 23-year-old woman claims that she and a friend were approached by another Dominican lawyer, Melanio Figueroa, who was allegedly responsible for manufacturing the accusations against Menendez. The two women recited the accusations on a video that was recorded without their consent, she stated.

Figueroa has not responded to numerous calls and emails seeking comment. Last month, an assistant at Figueroa's law office said they had dropped the case involving the two women on the video.

In Washington, Menendez told reporters that the accusations against him were "smears."

"I've always said that these are all false, they're smears, and so I look forward to seeing whatever the Dominican courts have that prove what I've said all along," Menendez said Monday.

On Tuesday, the 23-year-old woman and her lawyer, Miguel Galvan, are expected to appear before a judge in La Romana to file the affidavit claiming that she was in the video but it is false and was recorded without her authorization.

She is hoping to avoid being detained during an investigation to determine who was responsible for making and distributing the video. She is not expected to speak at the hearing.

Castillo, the son of a Dominican presidential adviser and the brother of a member of the country's Congress, has said he has known Menendez for some 15 years and had never seen him with a prostitute. He said he's never hosted any parties involving prostitutes.

In the video released last year, the two Dominican women, whose faces were blurred, also claimed they had sex with Castillo and Dr. Salomon Melgen, a Florida eye doctor of Dominican descent who is a prominent Democratic campaign contributor and a major supporter of Menendez. De los Santos now claims that those allegations are also fabricated.

Menendez's ties to Melgen have come under close scrutiny after an FBI raid early last month at the doctor's West Palm Beach, Florida, offices. Menendez has acknowledged flying on Melgen's private jet to the Dominican Republic twice and was compelled to reimburse $58,000 for the two flights that he had previously failed to report.

A watchdog group called Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, has said it had received emails starting in April 2012 alleging that Menendez used the services of prostitutes in the Dominican Republic. The emails came from someone identified as "Peter Williams," though that may be a pseudonym.

Just before Menendez's successful re-election last November, The Daily Caller, a conservative web site, published a story that included a video interview with two women who claimed to be prostitutes. The women said Menendez paid them $100 for sex after agreeing to a fee of $500.

The Daily Caller did not immediately respond to emails and phone calls on Monday.

The whereabouts and identity of the other Dominican woman in the video is not clear.

The American Spectator : Private Insurance But Government Control

If you think the Obama health law won?t affect you because you have private insurance, keep reading. The Department of Health and Human Services announced final rules for private insurance last month. The federal government will have control over your care. Sec. 1311 of the law empowers the Secretary of Health and Human Services to dictate how doctors treat privately insured patients and what questions patients must be asked. Your doctor will enter your information into an electronic data base, your doctor?s decisions will be monitored for compliance with federal guidelines, and your doctor may have to choose between what is best for you and avoiding a government penalty.

1. Ask your doctor about keeping two sets of books, if you tell your doctor things you wouldn?t confide to anyone. Otherwise your electronic record will include everything and be seen by thousands of eyes. Have depression, erectile dysfunction, or a drinking problem? Your chiropractor will see it. So will thousands of nonphysicians. President Obama?s January 16 Executive Actions to curb gun violence deemed healthcare privacy protections ?unnecessary legal barriers,? making it clear federal agencies will use health information for non-health purposes, such as background checks.

2. Line up your doctors now, if you?re a baby boomer. If you wait until you turn 65 and go on Medicare, you won?t find a doctor willing to treat you. Doctors will be paid less to care for seniors than any other patients.

3. Insist on a specialist, if you have a heart problem. Obamacare requires insurers to implement HMO-like controls that will reduce use of specialists. Recent research shows that patients with unstable angina do far better at avoiding heart attacks when they are seen regularly by cardiologists.

4. Brace yourself for less care at the hospital. Cuts to Medicare pay for over half this law, including a whopping $247 billion reduction in what hospitals will be paid. That will push hospitals into financial crisis, warned Richard Foster, Chief Actuary of Medicare. Nurses will be spread thinner, and patients of every age will wait longer for help.

5. Ask your employer whether your on-the-job coverage is going to be dropped. The law compels employers with 50 or more full time employees to provide a package of benefit that costs twice as much as what many currently offer. Some employers will opt to pay a penalty instead, and notify you by October 1. Amazingly, even federal actuaries admit the employer mandate will result in fewer people having employer coverage.

Some employers are already adjusting the size of their workforce to avoid the mandate, or pushing workers to part-time status (under 30 hours a week). Employers? obligations in 2014 will be determined by the size of their 2013 workforce.

6. Avoid Medicaid. If you lose on the job coverage, you?ll either be directed to an insurance exchange or dumped into Medicaid. ?Dumped? is the right word, because Medicaid is often inferior coverage. Research shows that surgery patients on Medicaid are 50% more likely to die than surgery patients with private coverage and more at risk of dying even than uninsured patients.

Citizens with household incomes below 133% of poverty ($19,000 for a single person and $33,000 for a family of four) are ineligible for subsidized private plans on the exchanges. They have to settle for Medicaid. Legal immigrants with low incomes get a better deal. The law makes them eligible, because otherwise they would be uninsured. Medicaid has a 5 year waiting period for newcomers.

7. Don?t be bamboozled by fancy marketing. An exchange is like a supermarket that only sells one product: the government-mandated ?essential benefits? package, period. The bronze, silver, gold, and platinum labels merely indicate different copays and deductibles. The cheapest bronze plan for a family of five will cost about $20,000 (before subsidies), according to the IRS, and will cover only 60% of medical bills. Platinum plans will cover 90%.

The Obama health law empowers the Secretary of Health and Human Services for the first time in history to standardize medical care for privately insured patients. Look for thousands more regulations controlling you and your doctors.

(AP) ? Call me? Maybe?

North Korea's young leader has riled the U.S. with recent nuclear tests, but Kim Jong Un doesn't really want war with the superpower, just a call from President Barack Obama to chat about their shared love of basketball, according to erstwhile diplomat Dennis Rodman, the ex-NBA star just back from an improbable visit to the reclusive communist country.

"He loves basketball. ... I said Obama loves basketball. Let's start there" as a way to warm up relations between U.S. and North Korea, Rodman told ABC's "This Week."

"He asked me to give Obama something to say and do one thing. He wants Obama to do one thing, call him," said Rodman, who called the authoritarian leader an "awesome guy" during his trip. The State Department criticized North Korea last week for "wining and dining' Rodman while its own people go hungry.

Rodman also said Kim told him, "I don't want to do war. I don't want to do war."

Yet in January, after the U.N. Security Council voted to condemn the North's successful rocket launch in December and expand penalties against Kim's government, his National Defense Commission said in a statement that "settling accounts with the U.S. needs to be done with force, not with words." The statement also promised "a new phase of the anti-U.S. struggle that has lasted century after century."

North Korea and the U.S. fought on opposite sides of the three-year Korean War, which ended in a truce in 1953. The foes technically remain at war. They never signed a peace treaty and do not have diplomatic relations.

Rodman was the highest-profile American to meet Kim since Kim inherited power from father Kim Jong Il in 2011. He traveled to the secretive state with the Harlem Globetrotters team for a new HBO series produced by New York-based VICE television.

The visit took place amid rising tensions between the countries.

North Korea conducted an underground nuclear test two weeks ago, making clear the provocative act was a warning to the United States to drop what it considers a "hostile" policy toward the North.

Rodman said he was aware of North Korea's human rights record, which the State Department has characterized as one of the worst in the world, but said he wasn't apologizing for Kim.

"He's a good guy to me," Rodman said, adding, that "as a person to person, he's my friend. I don't condone what he does."

Basketball is popular in North Korea, and Thursday's exhibition game with two Americans playing on each time alongside North Koreans ended in a 110-110 tie. Following the game Kim threw an "epic feast" for the group, plying them with food and drinks and making round after round of toasts.

Rodman's trip was the second attention-grabbing American visit this year to North Korea. Google's executive chairman, Eric Schmidt, made a four-day trip in January, but did not meet Kim.

Rodman said he planned to go back to North Korea to "find out more what's really going on."

Switched On: A 4K in the road

Each week Ross Rubin contributes Switched On, a column about consumer technology.

DNP Switched On A 4K in the road

The past decade has now seen at least three industry-wide technologies vie for the future of television -- HD, 3D and now 4K or UHD. The first of these -- HD -- represented a massive change for television that affected nearly every aspect of the TV experience from how it was captured to how it was consumed. A decade later, it is nearly impossible to purchase a TV that does not support high-definition. The second -- 3D -- was a mixed bag. While the technology became commonplace on high-end TVs, it has remained relevant for only a small fraction of programming. The question, then, is which of these paths, if either, 4K will follow.
