Yahoo! News is gathering brief first-person accounts, photos and video from the severe winter weather in the northeastern United States. Here's one resident's story.
FIRST PERSON | During my lunch hour, around 1 p.m., I could slowly but surely see the direction the storm was taking. While I was walking back to work, the storm took on a hail-like character, pricking the faces of pedestrians in New York.
Snow is now covering the ground, and I've seen some slipping due to the ice underneath. My main concern is for the children at the neighboring school down the block. The Borough of Community Manhattan College is already ending classes early, and letting employees leave due to the hazardous weather; NYPD is telling people to head home.
